Changelog

Devil's Arcade 2.0.0 has now been released and can be played in the web or on desktop, which is recommended over the web version.

As mentioned in the original announcement, this is the last content update for Devil's Arcade, the game will now only receive minor updates and/or patches if necessary.


New features/additions:

  • Added new "Battleground Cleanup" game mode
  • Added new "Tasty Galaxy" game mode
  • Added new "Witchy Woods" game mode
  • Added new "Legacy" game mode
  • Added new score popup when gaining score
  • Added icons for every statistic
  • Added new BG effect for main menu
  • Added optional scanline effect to the entire game
  • Added SFX for starting/finishing a wave
  • Added SFX for defeating enemies
  • Added SFX for game over
  • Added SFX for enemy attack
  • Added "Thank you" page in "Other" section
  • Added unique audio filter to "Cursed" game mode (Desktop only)
  • Added white outline to event popups to increase readability
  • Added new "Slots" minigame
  • Added music for minigames
  • Added new setting to disable the main menu music stinger under "Other
  • Added new "gained score" panel to minigames

Changes:

  • Decimal texts are now nicely formatted (100000 -> 100,000)
  • Replaced cross-fade screen transition with new stylized look
  • Polished card minigame by adding SFX and animations
  • The Devil now moves slightly in the minigame scene
  • Modified looks of Tutorial scene to improve readability
  • Player movement code has been reworked slightly for more consistent movement behaviour
  • Re-designed Demon Defender
  • Re-designed Grand Demon
  • Polished wave start timer with SFX and an animation
  • Re-designed Desktop icon
  • Bullets now use circle casts instead of box casts to simplify hit detection
  • Overall codebase was iteratively optimized
  • Code license has now been set to "all rights reserved"

Balancing:

  • Slightly increased player base movement speed
  • Reduced health of Demon Destroyer
  • Minigames can now only be accessed when gaining a score of at least 10 000

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed bug where player could sometimes leave level boundaries by dashing
  • Fixed visual inconsistency of text wobble effect
  • Fixed shadows not lining up with some enemies
  • Fixed bug where changing graphics settings would only apply to main menu
  • Fixed buttons in enemy info screen overflowing panel boundary
  • Fixed "current events" panel content overflowing
  • Fixed glitch where current events texts would be slightly rotated due to being spawned mid screen shake
  • Fixed bug where playing the long variant of certain game modes would load the normal version instead when playing for the first time
  • Fixed some minor typos in cut-scenes
